Hardly a perfect dream, Drop out at seventeen, Pandemonium in a bleacher-sitting scene, Never did that much for me. I'm sick and tired of always taking what you've got, I'm looking in and pulling out what I've been taught, And loneliness is never as bad as you thought, It's hardly ever what it seems. Hardly a perfect day, Permanent marker name, Up in the scaffolding where we had our first date... My, oh my, how things have changed... I'm sick and tired of always taking what you've got, I'm looking in and pulling out what I've been taught, And loneliness is never as bad as you thought, It's hardly ever what it seems. I'm sick and tired of always taking what you've got, I'm looking in and pulling out what I've been taught, And loneliness is never as bad as you thought, It's hardly ever what it seems. Hardly a perfect dream, Drop out at seventeen, Waiting around to see what everybody's seen, Never did that much for me.

Still Sunday morning, I don't care, it's all the same. No one to blame for the world. Tucked behind a cigarette inside a dimly lit apartment, You'll find me. Pushing 'round thoughts in my head for most the day. A beautiful terrain...for someone else. Digging out dirty memories of myself to force, A new divorce of the soul. In the hopes these elements will find a source of new happiness, Somewhere else. Striking a chord in the flesh that resonates. A beautiful someday... Say, why are you so sad? Over and done. Still Sunday morning, I don't care, it's all the same. No one to blame for the world.

Carnival 03:06
Would you like to go to a carnival, I hear they got a Ferris Wheel set up. Well, it could be a date--I'll pick you up at eight. Sometimes I don't know if you want me, As much as I know that I want you. It seems I hardly get it right, But this time I really hope I do. Found a box made out of tin, Stuck a penny in, And crushed it into something beautiful. If I'm going way too slow, Would you let me know? And would you mind if I should try to win you... A prize. Saw a carnie near a truck, Who's out to test my luck, Said "Try your hand at winning something real." Didn't matter what I picked, 'Cuz the game was fixed. Sometimes I don't know if you want me, As much as I know that I want you. It seems I hardly get it right, But this time I really hope I do.

Backbiter 03:50
Sent the smoke-cloud terrorist shying down, Don't you know, You shouldn't take advantage of... Backbiter got the spins on a merry-go-round. I hope you're choking on the chewing gum You stole from me while kissing my mouth. I'm looking at you, And you don't look quite right to me now, Where you would kiss you left me welts. Uncovered the truth, I'm not gonna' let it go... So similar you slither like a snake in the grass, Spitting sweet-talk, And charming me deaf to your gimmicks. Con-doctor said she'd help me cover up the past, What a shock to find the bandages, You wrapped me in were just making me sick. I'm looking at you, And you don't look quite right to me now, Where you would kiss you left me welts. Uncovered the truth, I'm not gonna' let it go. I'm not gonna let it go. I'm not gonna let it go... I'm calling you out. Spring-cleaning your dirty mouth. So free of it now. Deliverance reigning down.

about

This is the second installment of my personal recordings. All songs were written, recorded and arranged by Zach Smith using a Tascam 8 Track DP-02 recorder. "Misery" does indeed have words, but we were short on tracks after bouncing as much as we could. If you'd like to be one of the few to hear it in its entirety, I recommend checking out a live show.
